Editorial Reviews
"I love Rachmaninoff and the writing of S.L Armstrong and K. Piet. In the beginning, I was unsure if the story would be strong enough to keep me interested, but I soon realized Rachmaninoff has more than what it takes. I love the slow formation of their relationship and the erotic love they come to share. The coming together of these two extremely strong men is so realistic yet romantic, and I would recommend that you give the words of Rachmaninoff a listen." -- Delane, Coffee Time Romance
"The authors... have done an excellent job mixing the old world vampire with the modern one readers have become familiar with.... Rachmaninoff spans a period of several years, and is at times dark and intense; yet watching Aric and Nikola find their way will keep you turning the pages. I was happy with the way the authors wrapped up the story and will more than likely read it again." -- Literary Nymphs
"I found this book to be a fascinating amalgam of history, character development, romance and just plain human interest; and I was somewhat surprised, although pleasantly so, to find myself eager to just sit and absorb as I read." -- eBook Addict Reviews
Book Description
Nineteen-year-old Aric Reynolds has spent most of his life in boarding schools, summer camps, or on tour as a prodigy with the piano. His wealthy parents have never had time for him, and after a failed year at college, they have decided on a final course of action. Aric is brought to Nikola Jovanović's beautiful, sprawling manor in Serbia.
Nikola is known the world around as a master in music, unsurpassed by any, but terribly reclusive. For one year, Aric is to be his student, but in the modern day, it is easy for Aric to learn Nikola's secrets. With a dark shadow lurking from Nikola's past and Aric's stubborn, promiscuous nature, the sexual tension between the pair simply explodes, and Aric's very mortal life is held in the balance.

THE MIDDLE OF THE REVIEW CONTAINS PRETTY MASSIVE SPOILERS. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!This is probably the best word I were to use if I would have to describe this vampire story. I agree with a lot of what four stars reviewer wrote actually except that it did not start slow for me, I was captivated by Nicola and Aric right from the beginning.
I liked how imperfect they both were and how many mistakes they both made and how many ups and downs their story had. I really have no gripes with the story and the characters, however I have to note couple of personal dislikes, which have to do with my taste and I do not believe they made the book any worse. The only reason I note them is if there would be readers who share same tastes with me.
SPOILERS TO FOLLOW. ACTUALLY YOU CAN EASILY SKIP THE NEXT PART NO MATTER WHAT, IT IS JUST SUBJECTIVE PERSONAL RANT ABOUT SOME PLOT TURNS, WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MERITS OF THE BOOK :-). i JUST NEEDED TO TYPE IT OUT TO MAKE MYSELF FEEL BETTER.
Okay, first and foremost I could have REALLY done without knowing that Nicola was watching Aric since he was thirteen, because initially it gave me a feel that Nicola was a dirty old man who wanted a boy in his bed. Yes, I know he says that he watched Aric because of his musical talent mostly, however he also does not deny that on some level he was attracted. Yuck. And I am NOT talking about difference in ages due to the fact that Nicola is a vampire. I am specifically talking about him taking such early interest in Aric.
In another story by those authors "Keeper" one of the guys is 2000 years old or older and another is 25 I think, it did not bother me at all.
And my second personal dislike is actually something that made me like both Nicola and Aric significantly less by the end of the story. Beware, vampires in this story have VERY little hesitation in taking the life of the humans and this is something I personally DISlike in my vampire stories. To be quite honest after that little human gift to Aric from Nicola I wanted to put a silver bullet in both of them. Actually, I have to rephrase that, I know Nicola mostly does not kill when he fed before, so probably authors intended to show that those were killings of necessity. HOWEVER, author failed to show me that this was a dire necessity, especially "necessity" of killing a woman who "may" have recognized them since Aric did not do the good job clouding her mind.
I am sure many readers would say DOH, it is a vampire story, and vampires are monsters by definition. However, I have read enough vampire romances by now and yeah, they tend to be hit or miss for me. While I do not need vampire to be all weepy and whiny about their soul Angel style, I do not want them to be complete monsters, sorry, those stories I tend to avoid. But if you like your vampires not giving a damn about their food (again, I know authors intended to show that Nicola does give a damn but to me it did not come out that way), this will be your cup of tea.

Rachmaninoff edition by SL Armstrong K Piet Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I'm not really an expert of vampire novels, but I think this one by S.L. Armstrong & K. Piet is pretty much adherent to an old classic vampire novels. There is an ancient vampire, Nikola, who not only was a feudal lord who was turned against his will, but he was, and still is, from East Europe. At the time when Nikola was turned he lived somewhere in deep Russia, in the XVII century, when the land was fascinating but a little barbaric. If I have to be true, Nikola doesn't appear to be a strong man, but more someone of the intelligentsia, someone who is more used to win his battle with his mind more than his body. And indeed he is now a renowned expert in historic and music, who is willingly taking a young pupil under his roof for an year of teaching him not only school lessons but also about life.
Aric is a child prodigy, already touring in concert at 13 years old, and now at 19 he is "burned"; he has no more urge to learn, he feels as he has no strings, not with his country or his parents. When his father plans to leave him in Serbia with Nikola, Aric has little choice, but it's not that he complains a lot, really. One place equals another, and mostly Aric wants to loose himself, and his chosen way is to have sex with stranger, with whoever and whenever he has a chance.
The secret of his tutor being a vampire is not really well kept, and it's not long that Aric confronts Nikola; and as simply as that Nikola confirms that he is a more than 500 years old vampire. Aric turns his pursue of distraction from life from sex to Nikola he agrees to now have sex with strangers if Nikola tells him more of his life. Now, as I said, it's not that Nikola is really hiding he is a vampire he dresses like in the XVII century, he teaches his lesson from sunset to dawn, and he never eats or drinks; and the secrets that he tells to Aric are more or less what you can learn on East Europe vampires. But for Aric is another game, another way to forget he has not really a life for him to come back or a family welcoming him. Listening about Nikola's loneliness is a way to believe he is not the only one in the world with such emptiness inside him.
The story moves along the usual path of the vampire novels, with even the European grand tour (all by night) that often you see in these vampire novels or movies. I think the main difference is actually Nikola, and his "weakness" I'm not saying he is weak in a derogative way, but he has not the usual strength you are used to read for vampire; he has plenty of questions on his life and desire, he is unsure, often scared of his own feelings. True, he makes some right moves regarding Aric, allowing him to grew into a man he can love, but all in all, I found Aric stronger than Nikola, in his loneliness, in his anger and in the end, in his love.
